Wise Women Discuss—Plot!

The 36 Tragic Situations

Though women have been starved of creative opportunities over the centuries of patriarchal bullying, they have proved in one important field that they are not creatively inferior to men—in writing. Adelphiasophists are keen that all people should be creative and that their efforts should be appreciated. If you have been intending to start that novel or screenplay but felt short of ideas, here is the Wise Women's synopsis of plot to give you a few ideas. May the Goddess inspire you. 25. Obstacles to Love

Here is a common theme but can seem irritating when all the parties have to do, if they love so strongly, is to elope and start from scratch. In fact usually some device makes them equals and the play can end happily. More serious obstacles than money are age, character, tastes, etc, and they are more common.

A general theory applies to age: the first love (20 years) seeks equality of rank and superiority of age; the second (30 years), boldness having been acquired, seeks superiors in rank but equals in age; the third inclines to younger and socially inferior people.

Of course, whatever the subject of a drama, today a love aspect will be introduced.
