One could not imagine two separate intelligent species evolving in mutual contact. Whichever was the more advanced would rapidly eliminate the other.

The first test of medicine is that it should do the patient no harm.
Florence Nightingale

On day 21 of the war, the fall of Baghdad was announced and the war was declared by the journalists as over. It was thankfully short but still cost a provisional 2000 civilian lives and about 5000 civilians injured. Another 4000 or so Iraqi soldiers were killed compared with a handful of US and UK soldiers. This was a grossly one sided war, and now its ends have to justify its means—$75 billion, on Bush’s appeal to Congress, seven times the GDP of Iraq! An evil tyrant has been justly removed, but what can the Iraqis now expect? The evil tyrant’s former masters are now directly in charge, and what are their true motives?

Trampling on UN Resolutions

The aim of the war was supposedly to remove weapons of mass destruction from Saddam who said he had none, did not use them even though the war was always against him, and the “coalition” soldiers have found none. Propaganda demands that they do find something, and they probably will, if only to satisfy the barstool brigadiers who are celebrating a great victory.

The truth about the purposes of this war will be revealed in the coming months. A US governer, Jay Garner has been appointed, the US will control every sector of the country, the currency will be the dollar and the contracts are already being doled out to the buddies of the Bush Administration. It is already looking clear enough, but watch this space. These pages will be left here for the time being, while people check out the outcome.

The real test of what this war is about will be determined by who gets the oil. If we see control going to Bush’s corporate Buddies, we will know that the anti-war protestors were right.
Marc Perkel, San Francisco

Broken Promises (aka Lies!) revealed in the US draft UN resolution (9 May 2003):

  1. Oil. Blair: “We don't touch it and the US doesn't touch it” (7 March 2003). US and UK have total control of Iraq's oil revenues for at least a year until an Iraqi government is set up.
  2. UN Role. Bush: “The UN will have a vital role to play” (8 April 2003). All operational decisions will be taken by US and UK officials. The UN will be advisory.
  3. WMDs. Jack Straw, UK Foreign Minister: “Should the UN have a vital role to play in respect of weapons inspections? The answer to that is yes” (25 April 2003). There is no role for the UN weapons inspectors foreseable.
  4. Aid. Blair: The UN should have a key role in administering the delivery of humanitarian aid (18 March 2003). US and UK to oversee aid, with a possible co-ordinating role for the UN.
  5. Government. Blair: Military action is to uphold the authority of the UN and to make sure Saddam is disarmed (7 March 2003). US and UK to be occupying powers in Iraq for at least a year.

Before you go, think about this…

Why should there not have been hosts of dinosaur monkeys and dinosaur apes? Perhaps there were but because of their habitat they did not fossilize easily: a whole fauna of advanced dinosaurs about which we know nothing.
